What is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, often referred to as KAP, is a cutting-edge and highly effective therapeutic approach that harnesses the unique properties of ketamine to catalyze profound healing and transformation for individuals struggling with various mental health challenges. But what exactly is Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and how can it benefit you?

  • A Synergy of Science and Psychedelic Healing – At its core, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy is a carefully structured therapeutic process that combines the administration of ketamine with the guidance and expertise of a licensed therapist. This therapeutic synergy creates a powerful environment for exploration, insight, and healing.
  • Experiences From a Different Perspective – Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that, when administered in a therapeutic setting, can induce a unique altered state of consciousness, characterized by a profound sense of detachment from the self. This enables individuals to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences from a different perspective. This shift in consciousness can facilitate deep self-reflection, emotional processing, and connection with inner wisdom.
  • Guided by a Skilled Therapist – In Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, the therapist plays a pivotal role. They provide a safe and supportive space for the individual during the ketamine experience, helping to guide the journey and navigate the emotional and psychological terrain that unfolds. The therapist’s expertise is essential in ensuring that the experience is productive and healing.

KAP FAQs

What is KAP?

KAP stands for ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and refers to a client receiving psychotherapy to prepare for and integrate ketamine treatment. KAP helps the client understand their experience and how they apply it to their goals and incorporate it into their everyday life for lasting change.

How many KAP treatments do I need for depression?

Ketamine clinics typically begin with six infusions over three weeks. KAP sessions are scheduled before and after infusions for prep and integration. Results vary, however many clients begin to feel shifts in their depression after several sessions and continue to feel signs of improvement after the full series. To integrate and optimize results, it is best to combine infusions with Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
